Just like baseball only better.

Actually both baseball and cricket evolved from 'rounders'.

Arion,

I posted this in the other thread that you asked about cricket - unfortunately that thread sank quickly without a trace

Cricket -

Is cricket like baseball :
Yes, the team with the most runs wins
No, you can hit the ball in any direction.

Is cricket like show jumping :
Yes, the higher you rise on the tree the more your peer nations envy you
No, there is no dung left on the arena.

Is cricket like Gridiron :
Yes, they both can wear helmets and have funny lines on the field
No, the padding is worn lower around the legs.

Is cricket like soccer :
Yes, there are 11 players per side and they play on a pitch
No, you are not encouraged to wear shorts.

Is cricket like water polo :
NO - it is not like water polo

Is cricket like chess :
Yes, for much of the time it can seem like nothing is happening yet time is important.
No, there are no "drinks breaks" in chess

Is it like Rugby :
Yes, it is played by true gentlemen in the best spirit of sport
No, cricket has rules whereas rugby is just mildly organised mayhem

Is cricket like golf :
Yes, you are trying to wack a ball at a target with a whacking stick
No, golf takes a lot of skill

Is cricket like Ice Hockey :
Yes, the both have postions called "Keepers"
No, see previous comments to remind that gentlemanly spirit and rules exist in cricket.

Is cricket like darts :
Yes, thepoint of the game is to fling something tiny at a target
No, England is good at darts

Please feel free to make up your own example everybody

No Warnie - that makes things tough. I wonder if he the problem was his going overboard on the dieting, or whether he was taking something he shouldn't have to recover from the shoulder, and used the diuretic to mask it. Surely people know by now that the 2nd option doesn't work.

And grrrr - does that gloating prat Tony Grieg have to mention it every 5 minutes in his commentary. I think I will turn the sound off the TV and listen to "Blowers" and "Aggers" on the radio instead

I know!
I've heard Tony Greig say that enough times already
"And yes, Australia is playing minus shane warne"
"Yes, thats right, no shane warne"

you can almost see the gleeful smile on his face...
