Can't kill this spider...

Whew! I just went through the exact same ordeal you're talking about Jaradu! Man, that SPIDER was tough! [img]smile.gif[/img]

I was using a lvl 7 elven cleric, buffed up with bull's strength, eagle's splendour, bless, resistance, and protection from evil, with weapon specialisation in longsword (using longsword +1 and a tower shield). And the blasted arachnid still kicked my ass!

I did eventually defeat it though. I essentially used the same tactics everyone else has mentioned. Lots of healing potions, blasting it with as many offensive spells as possible (Divine Hammer and Searing Light produced good results, but being a fighter I guess that's not an option for you, doh!), and engaging in melee combat once all spells were exhausted. I got the bugger down to 'Near Death' after using about 20 potions of moderate heal, then had to high-tail it back to the temple of tyr using the recall stone to rest and rebuff. Upon teleporting back in I finished it off with one hit, which was a bit of an anti-climax [img]smile.gif[/img]

And yeah, I'm soloing too. I'm not going to pick up a henchman until I genuinely can't progress any further without assistance (ie: absolutely all solo tactics have failed).
