The Saga of Stupidity

In the mists of the distant past when heroes were strong of heart and thew (and mostly dumb as rocks because of the #$%@ powergamers), they took merciless advantage of the shortcomings of the AI. [img]graemlins/knightsmile.gif[/img] [img]graemlins/rambo.gif[/img]

So what kind of stories do you have about how stupid the AI is?

There's the "chase the decoy in circles forever" weakness, among others.

Most recently, I've noted the utter idiocy of lizardman shamans and clerics of Talona casting Hold Person on my animal and undead summons.

Occasionally you will also see spellcasters and other named NPCs stand around like pylons. I used to see this in my pre-HoW days with Ilmadia - she'd chase but never attack - there may also have been a bug for her HP, as she seemed to go down in two hits. Yesterday, I noticed that Presio stood near the edge of my spelltrap without casting a single offensive spell. I had had to retreat across the bridge, leaving summons and a single tank (love the paladin!) to block the bridge against literally dozens of poison zombies and imbued wights. Presio didn't cast a thing other than the pre-determined mirror image even when targeted with a rain of missiles. I don't know if it's because there were too many things in the way, or what.

Cast Flame Strike on the salamanders! Ice Storm on the frost salamanders! Slay Living at the Boneguard! Last but not least, cast a spell at the mage who just cast Globe of Invulnerability! [img]graemlins/thumbsup.gif[/img] [img]graemlins/5bloodymurder.gif[/img]

Step #1: have Egania (sp??) run around randomly, patrolling the level.

Step #2: Have about 7 spiders, a few lizardmen, and multiple shamans crowd behind her at a chokepoint. Sit around while the solo cleric/ranger takes free shots.

Wow, I may have a future in AI scripting!

Having all of hte elven priests in the Seldarines hand heal my solo Fighter/mage constantly...

It was really weird.

Oh yeah, I've had that happen before. After being dead so long, maybe they get a little confused.
