It's not that southernese, I knew what it was: it's a combination of bold and audacious. However, it's meaning is limited to excellence, outstanding and daring (so basicly, positive)

So I'm not sure it could be used to describe a Thunderstorm... but I sure got the impression that it was a real BIG one.
