I found an animated gif I like, located at the animation factory web site, that is free for personal use. I have tried to download it to no avail. I can download the picture but I lose the animation.

Could someone walk me through the best way to get and animated gif from a site. I have tried the right click "save target as" option and have just saved a link to the site. I also have tried the "save picture as" option which of course gives me the picture with no animation. I am a rookie (as is probably obvious) when it comes to this sort of task so if anyone would please walk me through this it would be great.

Yep. When I opened it there was only the picture.

If you wouldn't mind taking a look, that would be great. Of the two ships, it's the one on the left with the lighter sky. Here is the link.

Thanks!

Hmm I donīt know.. I went to the link and Clicked the picture and just drag and dropped it to my desktop (Mac) the same as right click/save as and saved the gif. After that I open them up in explorer (quickest program to start) and checked it out.. Well you might have opened it in a program that doesnīt support the animation sequence of a gif, or might have downloaded a thumbnail of it..

I right-click on the image and select 'Save Image As', stored it on my floppy disk

oh I just realized what you were talking about...
no the image does not move if you opened it under certain programs such as Microsoft Image composer, Word, Image, ...
I opened it with my Frontpage 2000 and Microsoft GIF Animator, inserted the pic, and previewed it

works fine
