Does anyone know a reason why I should not buy:
Microsoft Digital Image Pro 9.0? I do not need the features that comes with Suite 9...Pro 9 is good enough. I can buy it today at Sam's for $60 without having to mail in a rebate. It comes for $90 -$30 rebate everywhere else. I think you have to own the version 7 to get it though. Which it stupid. Anyway...I know everyone in the world will say "Adobe Photoshop", but that crap is too hard to use and I do not understand it's instruction book. I read that at least Microsoft's software is easy to use. You have 2 hours to convince me.

Some reasons not to buy it: it's MS. Which means yes, it will be easy to use but it will be slow, bloated code that takes up far too much system resources, creates 200MB save files and take ages to load. Also, you note yourself that you have to own version 7 to get the rebate - this is just typical of the scum-bag underhanded tactics MS use and should give an ethical reason not to buy from them. Just my 2 c - however I am first to admit that their stuff is easy to use which is a good thing. [ 01-20-2004, 04:10 PM: Message edited by: Vaskez ]

Adobe Photoshop - There can be only one.
But instead of Digital Image Pro 9.0 maybe go with MS Picture It. Not bad. |

Of course Photoshop's hard to use if you trust the manual, silly person! Seriously, though, I don't have any personal experience with MS Digital Image Pro... On the other hand, I do have a reasonable amount of experience with Photoshop, and thus far it's worked quite nicely. My guess is that Photoshop has a number of features DI Pro doesn't, but since I don't know DI Pro's details, and I'm not sure exactly what you're using it for, I don't know how important that'd be to you. I'll just say that Photoshop's a nice program once you learn how to use it. On the other hand, it's also very expensive, so if you're looking for something at around $60, well... Photoshop'd probably be a bit more than you'd want to pay (around $600, iirc?). *shrug*
