De Gaulle was discontented with France's role as a US ally, so he pulled his military out of NATO, hoping to hold the balance between the US and the USSR. He called the French military and naval forces le Force du Frappe, dunno why.

It's what they do best.

They'll do about 12-15 years of limp-wristed, powerless resolutions, saying Bad North Koreans!

Edit: Out of curiosity, does anyone know why France re-joined NATO after leaving in the 50's or 60's? Serious historical answers please....
It will cost more in cash, but much less in the real capital that the world operates with "Power". By moving to one (or More) of the Eastern European countries that the hardline stance of the USA liberated. We show grace and respect to the people of the country(ies) we move to. Letting them Know we stand with you, and we fulfill the unwriten promsie, we make when forced the USSR to colapse. We will help you, no matter what anybody else thinks says or whines about, We the USA keep our word and don't run like scared school girls.
It also says to the country we left, you don't want us fine. We will acceive our goals nomatter what, and if you don't want us then we'll go...Oh by the way when we leave our money is going with us. You Know the money that we have been putting into your economy for years helping to keep your economy working.

Amen, John. I say, why do we keep a base in an anti-American country? Is that safe? Can we trust them? I do not think so.

So then the Americans are going to stop testing their missiles in the Canadian North. Excellent, because I never like it when they do that, and they will have to in order to be critising someone else. There is nothing worse than someone saying do as I say not as I do.

Pritchke tell your government that you don't like it not us. We conducted our cruise missile tests in the 80's with the full cooperation with the Canadian government. You may also want to tell your military to quit using the missiles we developed in partnership with them.

You might also want to get back on topic, missile testing when everyone is alerted and knows you are not about to attack is one thing, quite another to threaten nuclear attack and then launch a missile unannounced in the direction of a nation you have publicly threatened.

Your post is so far out of touch with this discussion thread that it doesnt make any sense.

You know off topic is one thing...but out of the reletive realm of even slightly applicable is another thing all together

I heard those same stories but all I can tell you is that from 84-88 we recorded no cows killed All "our" missiles tracked true and landed where they were supposed to. I can't vouch for those guys who were out west

Who were the guys out west?

Well on topic...

North Korean leader has a history of playing a bluffing game and posturing. It was a stupid thing to do to launch that missile as was the violation of south korean airspace by that jet fighter a few days ago. I don't understand it because NK has nothing to gain by acting like morons and everything to gain by adhering to the international community and becoming a part of said community.
