I for one found it quite amusing when someone thought I was a woman, because I was playing a female PC and had the image I used for her in my sig. I too have been confused once or twice, but I think it is important that prople can stay anonymous if they wish. As some of you know, I have committed the cardinal sin, by giving out my name and address to several members. I only did this because I felt that I could trust them implicity and valued them as friends.

I still think the idea of a tick box for male/female could be a go-er, but it must be optional.
Any female (or male for that matter) lurking and thinking of joining in would realise that there will be no problem for them here, we welcome everyone who treats fellow boardroamers with respect. The only problem I can see with it as such, is that if women were put off saying so by bad experiences elsewhere, but men weren't, it may look like the board was very male-dominated from just looking at male:female ratio, which in turn might put people off - women, and also there are plenty of men around who prefer a good mixed environment, liking to chat to men and women. OMG I've opened a real can of worms here - I didn't mean to be that serious, it's just that I was shocked by what I read in this magazine article, and am anxious that we should be a welcoming place for everyone, regardless of gender. I am not saying 'oh poor women need protecting' and I'm not saying 'all men are b*stards' or anything like that! Hope this all came out how I meant it - I'm concerned that I have come across all deadly serious & whiney & that's not what I meant !!!! Someone post a joke or something!! ------------------ Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so. |

No Epona, I agree with you entirely, so don't worry. I like this site precisely because women are treated as equals and anything that encourages them to visit has to be good. Look at LadyRae, who after visiting for weeks as a guest, decided to join in , once she felt comfortable and saw what a great place this is.

Stealthy - I read you sent me an e-mail on another thread in which I cannot remember nor find. Heck, couldn't get on the board for a bit there. Anyway, if you did, I didn't get it
