Church of Scientology reaches out to Amy Winehouse

The U.K. Mirror reports that Amy Winehouse may turn to Scientology. Which, y'know, could be good. Whatever works, I'm all for it. The woman is falling apart, has serious problems, and is almost never referred to in the press without the description "troubled singer." The Church of Scientology, the religious movement founded by science fiction author L. Ron Hubard, has offered to help. Zoe Griffin writes "Amy has told mates she received a 'welcoming' phone call from the religious sect's 'celebrity centre' in LA." The church allegedly recommended their Narconon drugs program, "which they claim has helped hundreds of addicts kick their habits." One of Amy's "inner circle" (don't you love how all the stars supposedly have friends who rat them out to the tabloids?) allegedly told the mirror "She had a call from the celebrity branch of the Church Of Scientology... "They told her they wanted to help her beat drugs and could tailor-make a programme so she wouldn't have to go to a residential centre. She liked that idea because her husband Blake is out of prison soon and wouldn't want to be away from him when he's finally freed." Of course. Because how could you possible stay away from such a specimen of a man? Treatment at Narconon, according to their website includes, proper nutrition and vitamins, detoxification through exercise and saunas, and self help education. Continued...

I don't understand how people don't raise an eye brow when a "Science Fiction" author starts a "religion".

Well, alot of people are raising their eyebrows, and have been doing that for years, and it's not just because old Hubbard was a sci-fi author.
