I just found this on a the IMDB website. I hope Peter gets it finished soon!

Second 'Lord of the Rings' Not Finished

New Zealand movie maker Peter Jackson faces a frantic month of re-editing Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers to make sure it's complete in time for its December 18th release. Nervous movie executives have been told the movie isn't complete yet - due to the fact Jackson has been busy ever since the first film picked up multiple awards at the Oscars and British Academy Awards earlier this year. Producer Barrie Osbourne says, "Everything went late but the thing about Peter is, he'll fight to the last minute to perfect the film, but when you finally say you must have it, he'll have it for you."

I trust him. He'll have it ready. If the fools would allow him to go over three hours in the theatre version...it would already be done. He had to cut some stuff, then change the story around to make sense after the editing. It is heartbreaking to him and to us...but he'll pull through for us. He's the man.!

Maybe the lost footage will be restored for the DVD release. (Note to self: must buy DVD player.)

Speaking of which I've read some stellar reviews of the new SE DVD coming out this month of FotR. The addition of the gift giving scene is supposed to be esp good. Can't wait to get it.

That is right. he has vowed to give the public what he wanted to give us in the theatres, but not allowed to. Too long of a movie scares some people away, and hurts revenue of popcorn and ticket sales. No intermediate break has been even considered. Therefore, we will get a regular release, an extended release, and a collectors' edition for each of the three movies. I plan to get the extended version only of the three choices. I do not need the little statues and all that. Just the deleted scenes will suit me.

Almost forgot, one other thing I read about the upcoming SE DVD relese is the movie itself will span 2 disks! One thing this alowed them to do is jack up the quality of the video and audio. They reviewer stated that it was better then the first DVD release and even better then the movie in some parts! It also contains four (4!) different commentary tracks. yikes! Here is a link to the review: http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=13726
