Very good that they managed to do it, an important first step for democracy, though I'me hesitant to see who they actually voted in...

Nah, this is good news, with or without the US involvement. The minority sunnis realized that if they kept following the advice of the terrorists and boycotting the vote, they would end up with no representation in baghdad. So, they voted. Good for them. A logical conclusion.
