Thanks all... Currently I'm trying to get my P3 866 up with WW and W8. I seem to be having problems running just about everything graphic intensive on the P3 . I am able to run WW and W8 on my Celeron 800 just fine (no crashes on WW... don't know on W8 yet...haven't gone far enough).

I'm re-playing WW with a solo job right now on the Celeron...without any gold cheats. Makes it a bit hard but a lot more fun now that I know where I'm going in general. I've just started the crypt.

Thanks for all the well-wishes! I'll definitely keep posting!

Are you running XP on both PC's? Is there much difference between the P3 and the Celeon, as far as graphics cards or RAM ??

I'm not sure if this works with Win XP, but...to find out your graphics card...you should be able click Start-->Programs--> right click 'My Computer'...click on 'Device Manager'..then look down the list and click on 'Display Adapter'.

Yes, XP on both. As far as I can tell both WW and W8 run fine on the Celeron. I don't remember what the vid card is on the P3 (I think it's an Nvidia but don't remember what). The Celeron only has 128MB RAM...the P3 has 512. I have a sneaking suspision that the P3's vid card is the problem...but need to talk the wife into a nice upgrade...any suggestions?

Unfortunately the machine I use for the net is not networked in with the other 2 machines...so I won't get the info on P3 until tomorrow (wait... that's already here... how about later today (grin))

I've played WW on 1 machine, with 3 different cards. All of them ran well. (They just had a different level of quality)

933Mhz P3
Windows ME
512MB RAM
Directx 8.1

 • 32MB TNT2 M64
 • 64MB GeForce2 Ti200 (Gainward)
 • 128MB Geforce4 Ti4600 (Visiontek)
Graphics problems...can be a real can of worms..
(Graphics card..Power supply..'BAD' RAM....)

Did you buy the P3, configured the way it is ?
Did you buy it from an OEM, (Dell, Gateway, etc..) or was it 'As is' (second hand)?

As much as I am enjoying My Ti 4600 (like Willow said)

I would Not suggest getting one...unless you have an Extra $200 to spend. They still cost about $280. You can pick up a GeForce 3 Ti 500...for about,$85. (You'll probably want to replace your PC before you feel like the G 3 is holding you back)

If you Really want a Ti 4600, I would wait. ATI and nVidia are going to have to take it to another level, now that Creative/3D labs is back in the picture. And that usually means, dropping the price on the last go rounds sweethearts.

One other note...If you Do decide to get either Geforce card...Do Not get an MX, get the Ti. The Mx line does Not have the 'Vertex & Pixel' shaders.

All,

Thanks for the suggestions...sorry been a bit busy (I travel quite a bit for work...plus today is our 6th anniversary

I still haven't gotten all the info on my machine but I will shortly...it is a Gateway system and I can pull the parts list up on their site. I'll post that probably on Monday. In the meantime...anyone have a dual-boot XP/98 system out there and can you give me the quick way to set it up...yes, I know, I'm being lazy and not reading (grin).

Thanks again!!!

No dual boot yet....But I Will get around to it.

A couple of things I do know....

1. Unless you have, multiple hard drives..or..have already partitioned your drive...You'll have to reformat it...or use a third party, partitioning software.

2.If you intend to share files, between the 2 OSes....You would lose the benefits of the NTFS. (ie..the stablity of the NT kernel) Windows 9x, (which includes, ME) can not read an NTFS volume.

**You can bookmark the following page...for when you feel like doing some reading.**

For now...Read the last section of this link... ...click
