It's common knowledge that a head or chest(center of body mass) are kill shots. I don't think it's a kid, although they could handle the most common weapon that fires the .223 round, AR-15, the civilain version of an M-16. All that I've seen are plastic stock and grips, lighter then a wood stock found on most hunting riffles. Who ever it is they got a screw loose.

Well, here's an attack from the somwhat-Anti-Gun crowd. I say okay, there are a lot of people who have guns who do no harm with them They carry them for defense or own them for hunting, perfectly alright. But the problem arises when we have someone like this guy, assuming that he/she got his gun legally. Are this many deaths really worth letting a lot of people own guns and be peaceful with them?

Personally I'd love to let such people as MagiK who don't go on killing sprees with their guns keep them, but how do we let them do so while at the same time keeping them from the psycho's?
Enforce the thousands of gun laws on the books. The problem I have, aside from the US constitution, is if we remove guns because they can kill, what about Knives, plain old kitchen knives. Baseball bats, bricks, cinder blocks, rocks, hammers etc.

There's a slight difference, guns are devices designed to kill and inflict injury, they really have no other use whatsoever. Those other things do.

They have blockaded all of I-95 in all directions. Huge amounts of traffic at a standstill, let's hope the killer is caught in it. More witnesses who saw a white van again. Sadly, the victim tonight, a woman coming in or out of a Home Depot in Fairfax, Virginia, just died, was shot in the head.

I had hoped earlier that Azred's thread meant it might be over, maybe, oh well..

Unfortunately, they have made the statement that the earlier findings that Azred mentioned have been dismissed as coincidental. Tests of the rifle showed that it was not the weapon used.

So it looks like the killing spree continues.

Another Killing, last night as LZ said, but according to the news they won't know if it was the same weapon untill tonight or at least this after noon .

Our local anti-gun nut Kathleen Kennedy Townsend is touting her favorite Ballistic Fingrprinting response. Apparently unaware that to change the ballistic fingerprint all you have to do is shoot the gun regularly. *sigh* This guy is a nut job and no amount of laws will stop him. I mean, it is already against the law to commit murder..will another law stop him if that one doesn't?

You know, material objects, like ouija boards, guns, knives, tea kettles are not evil, bad or wrong. They are just inanimate objects. It is the motivating human behind each that determines wether someting is used for good or evil. Guns actually save peoples lives every year too you know. roughly 30,000-45000 last year(in the USA). No one seems to care about that number though. Why not focus instead on trying to rid ourselves of the total whak jobs who go on the killing sprees instead?

I suppose the next question is what is the best approach to a problem like this? Do the authorities have to go through the normal way of arresting, trialling, jailing, then executioning, or do the police have rights to go out snipering on their own after criminals like this?

They still have to go through the same method of arrest, although if they find a rifle in a white van, that's enough propable cause to hold him for awhile isn't it? Of course the markings will have to be the same on the bullets, but like Magik said that can easily be changed. I wouldn't be surprised if some cop shot him on the spot, can't say he wouldn't deserve it either. I hope they catch this guy soon, it's a sad world when you can't walk to your car without the fear of being shot at.
