Well, here's an attack from the somwhat-Anti-Gun crowd. I say okay, there are a lot of people who have guns who do no harm with them They carry them for defense or own them for hunting, perfectly alright. But the problem arises when we have someone like this guy, assuming that he/she got his gun legally. Are this many deaths really worth letting a lot of people own guns and be peaceful with them?
Personally I'd love to let such people as MagiK who don't go on killing sprees with their guns keep them, but how do we let them do so while at the same time keeping them from the psycho's? |

You have a point John, but isn't it so that every shot is either in the head or in the chest ? Places that kill a man on the spot usually ? I mean he sure knows what he's doing. A young guy who played too many shoot em ups is also one of the things i've heard, but isn't a rifle like that too much to handle for a kid ?

The news pundits are not ruling anything out.
There are those who think it is Al Qaeda in a great terrorist coup. Think about it. The shooter has the entire region in terror. That is what Al Qaeda wants. They want to breed the fear. Sure, this could be a white male, who has gone a bit postal in a restrained and careful way. Think about how well he is doing this. He has shot quite a few people in a short time, and not gotten caught. Nor are there many clues. The shooter is cautious and controlled. No, I don't admire him. But the way to catch a guy like this is to know how he thinks. I wouldn't rule out a terrorist. Nor would I a white male. But it would be ironic if it wasn't either of those. Now that is FBI, MD, VA and DC police - this is going to be interesting to see how well they can cooperate. Right now there is technology that can determine where a shot is fired as well as what type. That technology can pinpoint the point of firing. The folks in the DC metro area that are looking into this and setting it up are not law enforcement. Thought that was interesting. (This was on TechTV in the States.) As ripe a target as the DC metro area is - I am hoping they will find ways to protect the populace.

I hate to say it cause it's probably already been said but this has happened before in a Texan Tower. The only difference is that the guy didn't shoot and run he just kept shooting. My entire faily is in law enforcement so i thought maybe i could give some insights. They are looking at magazine subscriptions, Rifle range membership lists, Sniper club lists, FBI data sheets, white van owners and every other thing that may help them. The problem is that there are so many people in that area! You have to sort through literally millions of white mini vans then you have to match that to the names on your other lists and it is a time consuming process even for the newest computers that the FBI has. It is unfortuneatly not a 30 minute tv show where the answer comes easily from the plot but alot of hard nosed investigative work by dedicated professionals. I will never forget being 15 years old and sitting in a sheriff's office with about 6 deputies. We were all joking and having fun when a call came over the radio that a little girl was stuck in an underground culvert. Before the dispatcher even finished the sentence they were all gone and before i could get outside the cars were already on the highway. These people(the majority) really care and they are trying.
Now for the scum doing this. He is smart or he would have been caught by now. He probably is a white male as any arab terror organization is so proud of what they do that if they would of left a calling card at all(Al Quaeda usually says nothing) it would have been very informative. They will catch him and he will fry if not in the chair, felons don't like kid killers or cowards which this guy is. Take a little heart in that he will pay in more than one way once he is in jail. Just pray that noone else has to die before he gets his!

I disagree with you Tank, the guy you're talking about didn't want to live anymore, and chose to go out with a big bang. (btw, i dont know if he got killed in the process, but if he did he got exactly what he wanted). Those guys are extremely dangerous too, cause they don't give a damn anymore. This one however, is having a ball. Or so it seems imo. Right now he is feeling invincible, totally in control, that's why he is leaving messages now for the cops. Well, either that, or he WANTS to get cought sooner or later.

You are right, that guy was looking for the final out it was a bad comparision by me, sorry. I guess what i was trying to say is that this is a constant threat just in different ways. There are hundreds of serial killers out there preying on us. Most are not active or not out of control. This guy has lost control of himself. He can not stop and he knows this and so do the police. He like most serial killers does want to be caught but unfortunatly he wants to be as famous and as gruesome as he can before he is caught. I don't know why serial killers want to be caught it it just in what i've read about them. They all do snap though some just faster than others. This guy lost it all at once in a dramatic way. Unfortunatly, we all can be preyed upon by someone, we just can't let it stop our lives. i feel like im rambling i just feel so angry i can barely control myself. I am a fairly new father and i can't imagine losing him to some unamed ghoul with a flair for cowerdice. Yet i need to live my life like i want to and not be scared all the time. It is a hard balancing act sometimes.
