I've had that problem for quite some time and it always bothered me but I was too lazy to look into it.

The animated smilies like for example do not move on my PC.
Normal GIFs (be it locally stored or on webpages) work. But at IWF I only get to see the first frame of the animation.

questions:
Why?
How do I fix it?

What browser are you using? If IE, I believe it should work if you go into:

Tools => Internet Options => Advanced then go down to Multimedia, and check the box marked "Show Animations in Web Pages."

Are you using ZoneAlarm Pro? Whenever I enable ad-blocking with ZAP this happens, so I turn it off when I visit Ironworks.
