I hope your dad gets home okay BD but I don't think we can censor such an important topic.

It must be all over the television and newspapers in the US - how do you avoid it there? Isn't it discussed at school?

Hey Skyman good to see you again See my thread about the nuke issue.

Im not sure but Im thinking that the russian states have as many or more warheads than the USA Im not sure but I think the idea was ours were accurate enough that we didnt need as many, tehirs were not quite as accurate so they needed larger numbers.

DK dude, don't you get it?? That was the whole plan. The USA needed and the world NEEDED the cold war to end. Ronald Reagan (and his administration) capped a 40 year campaign by the USA by coming up with the "Star Wars" plan. "Star Wars" was never a seriously intended weapons system (just enough resources were allocated to make the soviets think it was), it was a brilliantly played psyche job that forced the Soviet (not russian) economy to collapse by trying to counter what it THOUGHT was a serious threat to its stategic missile command. The Cold war was a precarious balance labled the MAD doctrine, MAD standing for Mutually Assured Destruction which basicly ment that any slip or goof ment that the whole world would be destroyed and neither side could win. Id rather see the Soviet union in an economic shambles and the people have to recover from that than to see the whole world as a blasted radioactive wasteland.

Apparently Bush did nothing that Clinton hadn't already done. Here's a link to a MSNBC report that came out this morning.

I believe it has gone on way before Clinton. The point is that this is about here and now. It appears nothing can be said against the current Administration's actions without dragging the Clinton record out for another beating.

Just because Bill (Joyboy) Clinton did it does not not make it okay now, does it?

Sorry, I precieved a Bush bash in your initail statement. Just thought I'd point out that other administrations have done the same thing in the past. Since Bill Clinton is the latest democratic president, It seemed only fitting that I should use him as an example. I guess maybe I should use Jimmy Carter has an example instead. Probably be better for me any way, since I hold him the the highest regard and I loath Clinton.

Back to the question at hand though. I personally don't have problem with this policy. I think every option, no matter how odious it may appear, must be examined. We must have measured responses to every contingency. For example, if a dirty bomb wear set of in New York City, and it was proven beyond a shadow of a doubt, that Iraq were behind it, I think that a nuclear response would have to be considered. I'm not saying that it should be the option used, just one of several considered.
