Imprisonment

What classification of spell is imprisonment? I can't look it up in my spell slot cuz I haven't learned it yet. And where could I find a freedom scroll. I know about the ones the duergar sell when you get to the Underdark but I'm no longer there.

Also, how would a fighter type protect against it? There's a certain lich that shoots it off like a machine gun and I hope Spell Immunity will protect my mages once I find out the classification. But what would a fighter or cleric do? Thanks.

I would have to say definately not Prot. fr. evil. I don't think a first level spell could be the answer to a ninth level spell. And I have that one cast on my crew anyway. It does no good. It helps against summoned demons though, maybe that was what you thinking about. [img]smile.gif[/img]

there are only a few special abilities with which a fighter type can protect against it, and i believe those are enrage(or berserk. the berserker kit spec. ability) and barbarian rage.

SI:abjuration will keep your mages on the surface.

Fighters can use prot from undead (*AFTER* the transformation, if an undead has a scripted convo before death, prot from undead breaks the game), or protection from magic, if you want to be cheesy.

ALso, keep in mind that lich has limited targetting abilities, he will choose the closest target and keep firing on that. If that target is a protected mage, your tanks can safely walk up and make lich dust.

what level is abjuration? can viconia cast it? if not is there any by-the-counter-thingy against imprisonment? ty

Spell Immunity is a mage spell. The only way a cleric like Viconia could protect against Imprisonment is with Shield of the Archons, a 7th level cleric spell that will only absorb two shots, IIRC.

It's either the barbarian or the berserker enrage that will protect against imprisonment, not both. Can't remember which one off the top of my head.

(Speaking of those machine-gun Imprisonments, it's not the Imprisonment spell, but a special version called Trap the Soul, that's only cast by that person, and the difference between Trap the Soul and Imprisonment is that Trap the Soul can be cast from a distance, but you have to be up close and personal to cast Imprisonment, like you have to be with Maze.)

Thanks for the replies! Now I will have a semi-chance to take on you-know-who. Actually, I've got it a little easier because my PC is a Demon Knight, which is a fighter kit from the Improved Battles Mod, and they become immune to Imprisonment at a certain level. I just need to keep everyone else alive since I don't have any freedom scrolls. And in theory I guess the closest one to him targeting method that you mentioned adrewas would work, but those multiple teleport fields won't let me keep stationed. Oh yeah, there's a SI for those too. I guess I'll have to memorize a couple. Out.
