Re: Japan's Mega 8.9 Earthquake! - Tsunami Generated! And Nuclear Reactor Emergency
There was just a 6.0 (or 6.2 USGS says) that hit right near Mt. Fuji..... If that volcano goes off.... It better keep quiet. We don't need yet another disaster. Plate is quite full...
Seems now they are going to try to dump water from helicopters onto the reactor. This is a 'last resort'... as I recall, this was the last thing attempted at Chernobyl. I just hope that the containment housing isn't cracked. If it's intact, it will lessen the radiation from getting out. Updated: Another 6.0 close to where the 9.0 was.. Just look at this.. it's incredible... so many quakes. I've seen a swarm after a large quake, but this is on a massive scale: Yellow=this week Blue=Today Red=last hour

Here is the updated pictures. Reactor 3 appears to be in worse shape than released.

Re: Japan's Mega 9.0 Earthquake! - Tsunami Generated! And Nuclear Reactor Emergency
What I don't get is the following:
What if No. 2 or 3 Reactors goes into meltdown, and basically makes it impossible for ANY human to be within miles of the entire site. This would possibly mean that the other WORKING or STABLE reactors would no longer be under human control or maintained, and then possibly fail too. If I were them, I would be working RIGHT NOW to begin removing all the rods from the stable reactors into a portable cooling tank and get them somewhere safe. Because if they don't, instead of 1 or 2 reactors melting down, ALL SIX could. The reactor containing the MOX is what worries me. (These are plutonium mix rods, and are MUCH more radioactive. they are also in the one that is the worst off. ) If all six had complete meltdown, and you had a low pressure system over Japan at the time, the ENTIRE Island of Japan would become radioactive... (not killing them, but causing health issues for many, and anyone within a 200 square mile radius from the Plant would die within Months if they stayed.. This is what worries me. You can watch live news on loop in English at NHK English site: http://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/

Recycled plutonium. Not exactly a positive denominator to the save the people equation.

Exactly a month later, Japan has had another earthquake, 7.1 on the scale
