Just a quick note Lady Z - I have been through the game with all the characters (before the expansion) and the easiest front to back is the Amazon with a Bow. You just can't beat a range weapon in this game - and throwing a few javelins is also good.

A level 30 spell is Valkarie... the amazon casts this warrior who is a killing machine! So you could have a couple fighters with you - your Valkarie and your merc.

I was just as hooked as you when I started (way back with Diablo 1!!) and in the first one, you COULD save. Ah well.

I am finding now with the expansion that the Assassin will rock as well... interesting spells and abilities I am still learning... but she is a trip.

Have you done the Secret Cow Level yet?

76 Level? damn, I thought I was doing good. My guy is Level 40.
OK, I've got it running in a window.
Level 40. St 121 (blue, magic enhanced) Dex 80 Vit 60 Energy 61 (blue)

Demon Horn Horned helm, BloodRise Morningstar, Griswold's Edge Broad sword, Raven Hand Sharkskin gloves, Skull Loop Ring, Raven Loop ring, Amulet of Chain lightning, Glorious Plated Belt of Spikes, Coral Greaves of Fortune, and Perin's Strong Ancient Armor of Health (named after me, in Chap 5) Weapon 2 is Kelpie Snare Fuscina. A spear class.

All the weapons, both rings, gloves and helmet are gold text. (Unique, right?)

BTW, One thing that has me off is that I've got the same unique sword 3 times !!!!! what's with that?

Necromancer.

Touch the Iron Golem! Touch the Iron Golem!

I prefer using the Paladin though, but I find that the Necromancer ssems to have an easier time. My Necromancer sells Full Rejuvenation Potions because he has too many, my Paladin is begging for them.

2. Ever found enough green highlighted items enough to make a set? If so, was it worth it?

Still trying... ...

3. Which Chapter did you find the most difficult, and why, and what was your character?

In terms of overall difficulty, Act 3. Why? I just hate them pipsqueak Flayers. They spit at you and run around screaming like spoiled brats. You chase after them and they swarm you. It is exasperating.

Some may say that Act 4 is the hardest, but that is not true. Until you meet the Obivilion Knights, Act 4 is actually a breeze. It is only because of that small area called the Chaos Sanctuary that people fear Act 4.

4. Which monsters (not a boss) gave you the most trouble?

Obivilion Knights, Imps, and Flayers, in descending order of grief.

5. What do you choose ring and/or amulet wise for the most part? Extra gold? Extra magical items? Poison resistant/duration? fire resistant? lightning? life? stamina? etc..?

Prismatic, - Magic Damage and + Skills.

6. Do you go with the usual weapon that "goes" with your character? Or are a rebel type and (for example) ups the sorceress' strengh so she can weild a two handed sword LOL?

I got a Barbarian who uses Wands and the skill, Frenzy. I call him Drummer_Boy. Wands are Mace-type weapons, so I invested in Mace Mastery as well.

7. Do you sell every blue or yellow item you come across (Town Portal anyone?) constantly LOL? (PS-I have, and it seems 20 million is all they let you gain)

Yes.

8. Do you think Deckard Kain is a bit long winded?

I click out of dialogue now, because I heard it before already.

9. How many times do you on average have to ressurect your party member?

About once per Act in Normal, twice in per Act in Nightmare.

10. Do you keep the same Amazon gal from Chapter one and use her and level her up throughout the entire game, or do you dump her for better NPCs later on in the game?

Mostly. My Necromancer, Druid, Barbarian, Assassin and Paladin uses the Rogue. My Sorcereress uses the Barb Merc.

Hi Wendy

You said that you have to retrieve your body before you Quit & Save, but i think i remember that you can quit without doing it, because when you load your body appears in the town.

You nailed it Ertai

Well anyway, when in NM and Hell difficulty when you die you lose EXP so be careful... when you try to retrieve your body you get partial exp back but when you just save and exit you cannot get it back...

Hmmm, re the Amazon? I can see the bow being very handy, but what about those times when you get rushed by the crowd and can't get out? Or like the Boss from Chapter 2 where you don't have much running around room? Does the bow still hit even if a monster is right up on you?

Nope, haven't done the cow level YET LOL. For some odd reason I decided to try all of the characters at the same time, and move them one by one through each chapter. I almost have all of them finished with Chapter 2 (except the Sorceress who I just can't for the life of me get her to defeat the Ch. 2 bossbug) So it's slow going getting further into the game this way, but I am getting to know all the characters and their abilities pretty well! I also occasionally *cough* play at work, just one character, a Barbarian, whose on Chapter 4 now. Unfortunately I don't have the Expansion Pack at work, so am stuck with the original DiabloII (hate the small chest inventory like a big dog!!!)

Oh and I love the Assassin! Wake of Fire rocks!

Well hello there Ertai Long time no see! Well yes your body does appear in town, but I think your equipment and gold are still sitting where you died? So you gotta go back in like the proverbial naked babe in the woods LOL?

@Charean; Have you been able to do/acheive something in the secret cow level, besides getting killed all the time by those crazy, two-legged moooing cow-clones?
Anyone?
