Arkanis Gath. SPOILER.

Who is this bloke? Is he a Drizzt type character in the "real AD&D world"?
I'd like to get whatever weapon he's carrying....1 shot = instant death. Unfortunately impossible as he can't be killed, so I take it he's incorporated just to keep the plot rolling in the right direction. Does he appear in any other part of the game at all or just behind the scenes?

Cool character anyway.

it is short sword +2
nothing special, he is there to stop you from killing Bloodscalp Renal. but there is a way yo get around him.

hehehe, BR carries boots of speed!!

Actually there are several "versions" of him in the game, the one you are talking about keeps the game going in the right direction. But when you reach Chapter 6, before confronting Bodhi, you can go and ask Aran Linvail (Shadowmaster), provided you sided with Shadow Thieves in Chp 2 and 3, to aid you in the distruction of the vampire guild. Aran will send a "mortal" version of Arkanis Gath to assist, this version is "killable".

Hi 250

How do you kill him then? I hit him for over 1000HP yet he remained "near death". His weapon kills after only inflicting 14 damage so I kinda guessed he was just a plot addition.

you SHOULD NOT kill Gath, because he cannot be killed. your target is Bloodscalp Renal, right? just kill him grab the loots and run

here are two ways:

first, with a monk as main guy:
have Jan prepare lot of domination
have Minsc and Jahiera stand at a propriat position near the door
now charm Bloodscalp Renal.
move him close to door.
have Jan began casting Greater Malison (if you do not have robe of vecna)
when he is in the middle of the casting, like 1.5 seconds, pause the game
have Jaheria and Minsc cast doom at B.R.
have your monk get quivering palm
the doom will hit B.R. first, and Greater malison right after it
now hit him with your monk!
he dies, have the nearest guy grab the loot. pause the game, RUN!!!!!!

the second way without a monk:
DOMINATE AS MANY THIEVES AS YOU CAN, including Bloodscalp Renal
summon five monsters
move them all into that small room
cast web three times
have your main character drink potion of free action
move you main character in the middle of those guys
have them all attack B.R.
now Gath will appear near your main guy. now, have EVERY SUMMONED AND DOMINATED characters attack Gath
Gath will kill whoever is targteting him, this gives you time to kill B.R.
samething, grab the loot and run

long time no talk buddy. Funny enough I knew that if anyone was going to give me specific information it would probably be you, so thanks a lot mate.

Hey Accord, can I ask you 1 or 2 more things? This is my 2nd time through single player and I'm doing things differently. I had both Aerie and Jaheira on the go but I think I said the wrong thing to the Wingless Wonder and she left while I slept. She shot off with about 70 scrolls (I stole 180 odd in the Adv' Mart) and other odds and sods. I missed her going and saved so now I can't find her anywhere. I'm wondering if I'm going to miss anything Quest orientated that she may have instigated/needed to be a part of.

Secondly, do I need to go to my new Thief Guild immediately? I didn't bother and went straight to Nalias Keep in the hope of acquiring that S/H as well. Will this mess anything up with the Thief S/H. Please don't tell me what my new Thief Guild do require of me as I've never owned it before.

Thanks 250 but I cleared him in no time at all.

My Thief Backstabbed him for 67HP Dam'. While he was being stabbed my 2 Mages threw in 2X Stinking Cloud. Jaheira threw in the insect spell simultaneously. Then arrows from range............simplicity itself.

1) For Aerie, the only story related quest you get is the "rescue Hare'dalis" and the "astra prison" that comes along with it, but you don't need her in your party to activate these quests or do these quest, with her being there will get you a few extra dialogues. Other than some NPC interaction, romance plot, and infinite amount of whining, I don't think you really missed much.
