You want a true cool science story?

A group of molecular biologists were interested to see if the common house fly carried a "tolerance to alcohol" gene. They were paid $1000s to do this. Basically, they turned different alcohols into vapor, and exposed the flies to them. Some got drunk quickly, others didn't. They mapped the gene, and BAMN, were published. Here's the best part...

They named the gene that got the flies drunk quickly CHEPDATE (pronounced with a long first "e").

... years later, it was discovered that to do their research, they only needed about $1000. There was much speculation as to where the rest of the money went. Some say Jose, others say Jim.

Yes... and this week scientists also managed to figured out that if you wash your car it doesn't always have to rain...
