The latest promises were for the first quarter of 2002. I'm starting to doubt the value of Blizzard's release promises though...

quote: Blizzard's promised release dates are ALWAYS off by at least half a year, but at least we can be sure that they give us balanced and bug-free games, I've certainly never had a Blizzard game crash on my computer due to software problems and that's because they use all this extra time on testing, retesting and reretesting everything to make sure that it's all 100% bug-free. |

Yes, that's true. And I'd rather have to wait three years for a good game than get bad ones every month. But if the game needs a lot of work, stop making promises you can't live up to. Say it's done when it's done, instead of making all us gamers wait and wait.
People stop caring after so much time. To make matters worse, Blizzard has already had to remove some aspects from the game, like reduce the number of playable races with 33% and cut down on the rolaplay aspect, just to try and live up to the dates. I think they shouldn't have done that unless it was totally unworkable. From my unknowing point of view, Blizzard should have started on the gameplay, not making any promises, and once that'd be done, get the graphics up to date. Then present it to the world, and there'll hardly be anyone complaining about how long it took. But such an approach would probably be unworkable or we'd have seen it long ago. |

Right now it's scheculed to ship on 6/25/02. When I was at E3 this last year, I talked to the developers and said they were shooting for before X-Mas, but I guess that didn't work. Seriously thought, kudos to them for loosing some money and pushing it back a bit so that they release a superior product when it does finally come out. We all know that if it were Sierra or one of the other sorry companies it would have been out in November and would have been a retail beta.

goddamn... that's a long time! and if they mess up big time... they just wasted their time... poor them...
i'd rather wait for even 5 years just to have a game that i will play again and again like BG2... |
