You can't sell the Signet of the Mavin. You find it in the same chamber where you talk to Nivius and take the Oath. The ring is found next to his corpse, just to the right. (It's really hard to see; Spirit Eye may work).

Most required items you can't sell. Makes me wonder why you can sell and use the Spider Nectar, though...

P.S. Once you get the Signet, equip it on the character who took the Oath, and have him/her talk to the Oracles...say "Destiny" to them and the gate will open.

Aha! That's the deal.

Okay...Nivius' tomb is located right behind the Ratkeeper in the lower level of the crypt. You can't get to him from the Ratkeeper side though...you have to swim through from the Asylum down through the tunnel and emerge in what is called the "Tomb of Heros".

To open his tomb, swim down the water channel on the northern side of Rethpian's (the ratkeeper's) room, and look for a small key at the bottom near the grate. Pick up the key and swim back. Now go to the west door; that's the Tomb of Nivius. Open the lock with the key, go in, hear Nivius' speech, and agree to take the Oath of the Mavin. The Signet will appear just to the left of his corpse after you take the Oath.

okay, first of all...you're not dumb. Lots of people have trouble at this point.

Have you completed the crypt? Have you found Scabban? If you found Scabban, then you'll notice that there's a hole in the floor of his room. Flip the lever on the wall behind him and then dive through the hole. You'll fall through to a underwater chamber with a tunnel leading south (?) I think. Swim through the tunnel (fast, because most of your characters at this point can't hold their breath too long) and emerge out in another watery area. You'll be in a room that opens onto a set of canals arranged in a diamond shape. That's when you're in the Tomb of Heros.

Whoa...you got a LOT more to do, then!

Have you opened the gate yet? Read the inscription on the back of the locket, then say what it tells you to say to the Statue. It'll open up the gate and you can explore the next section of the crypt.

When you finish talking to the statue of Kerah-

TURN AROUND!

The gate that opens is BEHIND you! (others have missed this too!)
