for the Unseeing Eye subquest.

I went in and made friends initially with Gaal, but decided now was as good as time as any and killed Gaal and the Beholder and whatever guards didn't run away (I've never seen guards run away so fast before). I killed them before the doing the rift device quest.

Did I just goof up the rift device quest. I got the one part from the diseased ones. But I can't locate the device from the Unseeing Eye cult.

The second part is in the beholder lair. The beholder lair is accessed through a secret passage. The secret passage is revealed by one of the guards you just slaughtered.

Remember, you were supposed to infiltrate them, not slaughter them.

The Rift Device uest can't be completed when you already have killed the reason why you started the quest.

Besides killing the Beholder/cult, I thought you also break the rift device in front of the diseased ones, so they know their guardian service is over. So I thought there would be an opportunity to find the part of the device after the fact (wiping out the cult) to finish up with the diseased ones.

Actually I went down to the diseased ones after wiping out the cult, so it was too late to follow their request exactly.

Note I have never played this subquest before. Question: You do break the whole rift device in front of the diseased ones don't you? If you don't then nevermind.

If you do, I thought the game developers may allow a way to get the other half of the device even if you didn't follow the prescribed course of action. Just so you could free the diseased ones. Even if you didn't need it to kill the Beholder.
