Fellow members: the language on the General Discussions forum as of late has become deplorable. Everyone seems to be trying to "push the envelope" as far as they can as far as using off-color language goes. While some "colorful metaphors" are allowed, I think Ziroc has made his position on this perfectly clear. Ziroc has closed and deleted threads before that used foul or profane language.

As a general rule of thumb, these type of terms are to be AVOIDED when posting:

1) The f-word. I think everyone knows what I mean on this one.
2) Any blatant sexual or pornographic terms or phrases, including scatology.
3) Racist, sexist, or other hate-oriented terms.

PLEASE edit yourselves, guys! This forum is ONLY as good as you allow it to be. Even if you're angry, put in asterisks if you feel the need to "sound off". Believe me, the recipient will "get the message." This isn't private e-mail. We do have kids reading this forum.

To summarize: Ironworks is NOT the great cosmic TOILET. Stop treating it as such!

Thanks,

I guess this means it's not good enough for me to poop on then. =D

I am YOUR omega.
Strider's Chambers - My website about roleplaying. Under HEAVY development.
The Shadow Network - My fairly well developed roleplaying community. Roleplaying open to everyone.

NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition! Our chief weapon is surprise...surprise and fear...fear and surprise.... Our two weapons are fear and surprise...and ruthless efficiency.... Our *three* weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency...and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope.... Our *four*...no... *Amongst* our weapons.... Amongst our weaponry...are such elements as fear, surprise.... I'll come in again.

That will need to be addressed by Memnoch or Ziroc. Unfortunately, I can't do anything about it. **SIGH**

Just as another RULE OF THUMB:

Please do NOT make attacks, even in "joke", about real people who are not here, ESPECIALLY if those attacks are in considerably questionable taste.

Sazerac I whole heartedly second your posts. Because I specialise in innuendo some people may think I am a hypocrite saying this. However I never post anything other than a double entendre and never use specific images or language. If you are responding to me, I would appreciate it if you keep to the same limits.

I "run" a few bars, and also mod and admin on some boards. I always come down heavily on anything that cannot be read by a 12 year old, and also on anything that is personally offensive. This might not be that obviuos as I tend to use humour to control the punters. So please no anti gay jokes, no rape jokes, and my pet hate - no mental illness jokes.

Thanks, Kiwidoc, for your support.

I have just finished cleaning up the "Collar" thread. Jabidas, there are still some rather compromising statements in your posts in that thread. I would suggest that you clean them up quite a bit and remove some of the offending material, including the slurs against Charlie. For the sake of the integrity of Wendy/LadyZekke's "adventure", I am NOT deleting those posts yet, but I will if those offending statements aren't "cleaned up".

There is nothing wrong with good-natured bantering, "double-entendres" and the like. The problem is when it strays beyond the pall of what any rational person would consider to be "good taste." We're all intelligent people here. I know there are cultural differences, but please do keep other's sensibilities in mind. We are a community here, not a "private" network.

Okay, I'm taking a break for a while. I'll be back on a little later before I head to bed.

Thanks,

Sazerac, thank you for saying that. I've been worried about this too. I think what I'm going to do is start suspending accounts for 2 weeks at a time when people do it excessively.. This must STOP! Stop being excessive, and used as common as the word "The" or something. If you can't talk without cussing, I don't want you posting here, period. It makes the forums look like some trashy place, and that's not what Ironworks is..

So those of you that HAVE offended this policy (You know who you are), take notice, I'm gonna start suspending accounts at 2 weeks at a time for people that keep it up.

Now stuff like 'damn' 'hell' and stuff are fine, and even sh** or in EXTREME cases other words when the situation warrants, but not as common speak.
