Do familiars get better as the game goes on. Do they really offer good advice on puzzles.

@) Not really.

!B) they will get better in ToB, hopefully as per their true abilities. (The monster versions are so much more formidable.)

I had jan pickpocket my pseudo dragon familiar in CH6 and got boots of speed, glasses of identification, and amulet of power!

Is the rabbit familliar supposed to be able to pickpocket? The dialog implies it can, but mine has the thieving skill icon greyed-out

There is a bug bug involving the familiar abilities, and most don't work. =P But, yeah, they're good for hit points.
