The thing is that I have a new 3D card that´s waiting to be installed. Now it seems though, that it doesn´t happen so easily. I went through the whole BIOS and found no way to disable onboard 3D, even though I was sure there was the option. Do you know any alternative impressions to "disable onboard VGA" or something, because my english isn´t the best and I may not understand all of those. When I plug the card in, a black screen appears.

There is also no options to manage power options, the card runs at 3V. I ordered a BIOS update because its two years old, but it will take a while before it´s here.

Any ideas?

Cheers,
NW

Do you know where your on-board graphics chip is on your motherboard? You might find a "disable" jumper near it or something to that effect. Also, does the on-board graphics thing use AGP? If not, in your BIOS you could try setting AGP graphics to be the default then maybe it'll just look for a card in the AGP slot and find your new one?

You should be able to download that BIOS update. If their sending out a new chip your paying well over the odds (A flash download is free, a new chip is 30 quid) and its an absolute pain to install - BIOS sockets are *not* designed to be easy to work with.

ON installing the card, best thing would be to go through your system board manual (again, you can download it from the manufacturers website). Its usualy in the BIOS somewhere, but it might be a jumper setting, which will be almost impossible to lcoate without the manual.

You should just be able to install your new card and the BIOS will recognize it and initiate it first.
