Sacred would be or could have been an interesting game unfortunately it is bugged to thy kingdom come so there... if you can work around it then it would be worth trying.
As for RPGs, you could check out Final Fantasy VIII if you haven't tried it. There's one for the PC, even FF7. For others, the others have already mentioned great names. What about... Civ III? Yeah you asked for RPGs though. |

Thanks all. Am going to try and get my paws on a copy of plane scape torment now! I'd never even heard of it. May try Arcanum and Fallout too. I can't buy a console sadly, or the bailiffs will come round. I also can't play strategy Bahamut to save my life - tried Sim City - the world is polluted and on the brink of disaster after about 5 mins with me in charge.I have played a lands of lore - think it was 3 though. And have played M&M 9 - was dire in my opinion, though of course I still saw it through to the bitter end I must dust off BG 1 and 2 and Deus Ex (somewhere in the cupboard). so that should keep me busy for a while! Thanks for all the suggestions. Roll on Monkey Island 5 (I wish!) and TES4:Oblivion I say! Happy New year to you all.

I here a lot of good things about Planescape T but I havn't played it. What you really should find is Wizardry 8. Go to the forum and do some reading there. Or even drop a post. Everybody there is great!

thanks variol, but I have played Wiz 8 already! I really enjoyed it but did find the constant besieging by enemies rather wearing! But you are right the forum is friendly - in fact don't want to sound like a creep but Ironworks in general is the best, most helpful forum I know! You always get a reply and nearly everyone knows a thing or two that will help!

I'm really, affraid to buy a game like Baldurs' Gate 2, because I just have such a hard time with real-time games. I just don't get why they don't put a turn-based option in all the games, then everybody's happy. I know there is the space bar pause, but that seems a pain to me if it's anything like Icewind Dale.

You can set in the options for combat to be turn based instead of real time.

Well, given what everybody says about the game, that would certainly sway me! Can it still be found and is the price good now?
Ok, I just called EB. They said they had BG2 with the strategy guide, bundled for $19.95. That sounds pretty cool, no? [ 01-08-2005, 10:50 AM: Message edited by: Variol (Farseer) Elmwood ]

BG2 dosent quite go turnbased, but if you turn on the autopause options you can make it pause every round, whenever you finish casting a spell, or whatever.
Just dont go expecting to be able to move and have your opponents stand still till its there turn. |

Is that good though? I mean, close enough to turn-based that I could live with it?

Ok, I was just at EB. they made a mistake and it's actually BG2 the Collectors edition. It has an expansion and an extra disc with items for the game and music: $19.95.
