My computer of 5 years old finally died. I'm buying a new one. This graphic card comes together with the new computer.

POWERCOLOR X550 256MB PCI-E DISPLAY

How good is that graphic card? Can that card be used for WOW ? and especially the upcoming TES4 : Oblivion ?

If I choose to upgrade the card, I can upgrade it with either..

AGP Display Card
================
Powercolor 9250 128mb
Powercolor 9550 256mb
xFx Geforce 6200 256mb

PCI-Express Display
===================
Powercolor x300se 128mb
Powercolor x550 256mb
Powercolor Bravo x700 256mb
xfx Geforce 6200 256mb
xfx Geforce 6600 256mb
MSI NX6600GT 256mb

Which would you recommend? Is the one that comes with the new comuter good enough or do I need to upgrade it?

thanks..

Well, it will run WoW, even my laptop can run that, but Oblivion? From the looks of that game, even when you turn all the video settings down, its still gonna need some grunt, and from what I have seen, the X550 don't got much

I have never used one, but don't expect it to run Oblivion well, and from the look of things, we will all want to see Oblivion in it's full glory

Although I am generally an ATI man, the best card I see there is the MSI NX6600GT, though there are are a few better out there, but the 6600GT should at least be able to play Oblivion.

If you play alot of games though, and want alot of power, you would be better off buying your own card, and there are plenty of people here that can help with that.

Though I am curious as to why they are offering both AGP and PCI-e cards....

Yep, I also run both Ati and Nvidia and the 6600GT there is by far the best out of the lot!

These two are the only two worth considering out of that list, the others are pure crap for gaming.

Yep, there's no question really, out of that lot the 6600 is a must. It's funny how they call the others upgrades...

6600 are also quite cheap in pricing. A good deal can be found on newegg.com.

How good is that graphic card?
As compared to what? On board graphics? It rocks!
A 1st gen PCI 2mb 3d accelerator card? It rocks.

For today? It sucks!
Look deep, way deep, any of the ATI 800 series rocks, as they all land in 1st thru 4th place on the PCI-Express charts.

Now those other guys are not lame ducks, but they failed to unseat ATI, and now ATI will have 'hopefully' for general distribution 5 Nov 2005, the new "1000" series cards. Can you say, damn, I need a new PC just to run the graphics card!

If you can wait, wait on the new ATI card, if not, that list you posted is pretty lame, and the MSI NX6600GT board lands 3rd in the 'Value Board Charts', and it's the best on that list!

Either wait, or go for the ATI RX850XT 256MB DDR3, especially if you want to see Oblivion in it's full details!

I'd shy away from anything less than an X800 series from ATI, or a 6800/7800 series from nVidia.

As pointed out earlier, ATI is scheduled to release a new series early November, but they've been pushing that date back sine late spring/early summer so I'll believe it when I see it.

To be honest the list you've provided isn't very upgrade worth, IMHO. You might want to look at SLI or Crossfire technologies from nVidia and ATI respectively, although Crossfire is still MIA. I think dual cards seem to be the direction of the future.

Be sure to go PCI-X though and not AGP, no matter which way you go. AGP is gasping it's last breath as we speak.

I see, so MSI NX6600GT 256mb is the best out of the lot. but still... I'll try asking around if there's something better.

thanks.

I can't wait for newer versions of card to come out as this would mean I'll be wasting my WOW monthly card ($120 for 2 months). So I've to get a new computer as soon as possible.
