Who is better, Kivan or Ajantis? Ajantis can cure, while Kivan can supposedly charm animals (I cannot find this ability). My party consists of:

PC: Paladin/Tank
Imoen: Like you don't know
Jahiera: Druid
Khalid: Pansy
Xan: Pessimistic and can't learn much!!

Or should I get rid of one and get both...

First off, welcome to Ironworks!

Second, either of those guys will be fine for your party. You might want to use Kivan as more of an archer if you take him, though.

Third, don't give up on the hunt for new NPCs just yet. Sounds like you've already been down the mines since you have Xan. Chapter three has more NPCs in store if you explore every area you can, plus has some of the best NPCs in the game, IMO.

I'd take Kivan, firstly your already a paladin so you don't really need another in your team. Furthermore Kivan is a pretty decent archer.

My vote goes for Kivan - Ajantis is OK but his dexterity is poor. Kivan on the other had is really good, great with a bow and top dog with a Halbard as well. Oh and don't forget the Steath skill too. Midget Gems Junior just completed the game with a party of four Fighter/Archer types and Kivan was one of the star performers.

Take Kivan. He rocks. In my party he's nr. 1.

I think it is personal preference but I like Kivan better. Ajantis is OK but as someome pointed out his dexterity is a pain, but if you find and give him gaunlets of Dexterity them he becomes much better.

I would suggest Ajantis if you were low on Tanking material and he had the Gauntlets. But, since you're a Paladin, we can assume that you're already a better Tank than Ajantis could ever be, plus you've got Khalid and Kivan there to back you up. Hell, even Jaheira, Imoen, and Xan can melee reasonably well.
