I just discovered a new cheesy trick that lets you take advantage of the game engine. If y'all have heard this one before then please forgive me, but it's something I've never come across.

Usually, if you dual a human from a fighter (or any other class/kit that allows more than one star in each weapon proficiency) and you gain levels in your second class normally, you must follow its rules in regards to weapon specialization until the level exceeds that of the first class. In other words, no extra stars in a proficiency slot, and if you put a star into a weapon that you had in the first class it is wasted once you regain that class.

My recommendation is to not level up your second class until your earned experience surpasses that which is necessary to get your fighter's abilities back. Then the game will let you put those stars anywhere you want, unless, of course, your 2nd class is cleric/druid and you want to put them in a proscribed weapon.

I just tested this out by creating a 7th level fighter with 4 stars in katana and 2 in dual wield. I immediately dual classed him to thief and put a star each in longsword and single wield. After he amassed 70,000 xp I allowed him to level up to 8th, and the game gave me 2 stars and would allow me to use them for any of the four proficiencies I had already chosen!

Another good one is the one allowing any class to use spells, but I'm sure most of you know that one. If you don't, then here it is. Take one of your guys, such as a fighter, and pause the game. Drink a potion, then switch the places in your inventory of the potion you just drank and a mage/cleric spell in which the target is always the caster, eg find familiar. Then unpause, and your fighter will cast the spell. Note that this does not work with spells where you need to select a target.

Ooooohh, I like that one and I've never heard it before. Thanks! OK, here's another one I discovered that you may not have seen - I posted it here over a year ago but haven't seen it mentioned anywhere since.

Say you've got a fighter/thief or a cleric thief, basically someone that can wear heavier armor but can't use his thief abilities while doing so. Carry a spare suit of plate mail, for example, with you and hide in shadows. Now get behind someone that you want to backstab, pause the game, go to your inventory screen and put the plate on. Now return to the game and strike! You'll still get the backstab multiplier, yet you'll be in heavy armor for the rest of the battle!

ADDENDUM: I forgot to mention that combat must not have actually started for this to work. In addition, some NPCs will initiate dialog with you when you're near and then turn red, even though you're still hidden, and my little trick won't work in this situation. So make sure you quicksave each time you try this out!

so bugs arent nasties anyway... nice to hear that. Ill share mine if you dont mind, though I already posted these a few months ago.

I found a very peculiar bug in the Lich's tomb in district gates (the door is hidden). I encountered him inside the tomb but been so wounded so ive decided to rest outside the tomb (tavern)and fight him again when i regain my vitals. but he followed me with the creature he summoned. drunk some potions.... fought and killed him, then ofcourse looted, then i realized that there are some containers insde the tomb which i havent looted yet so i went inside and found him there. fought, killed him and to my surprise he can still be looted with the same items.... presto... reincarnated items and experiences....

take note that this happened after i installed the expansion set (TOB) without any patches... havent tried it yet eith patches.

This does actually work with spells that you neeed to select a target for. The game selects a target for you... YOU!!
Note: this is probably because the potion was being targetted at you. (not sure about this though)

As for the use of this bug... it is technically cheating. Your characters should not be able to use those items. The only reason i can think of that can possibly justify the use of this bug is to get your non-mage-main-character a familiar.

or, while you're at it, use Shadowkeeper to give all of your characters the Use Any Item ability!! yay!!

(Dirty cheaters! Only the dualing bug isn't cheating! The rest is bad!)
