Outside of the Blacklake district, right? I left him for the end, after I finished everything else in Blacklake. Still took a few tries. I ended up summoning my animal companion (I play a ranger). The three of us were able to beat him.

I actually was able to take him out as a level 3 ranger, believe it or not. Using many many potions, sneak attacks (by myself and my little halfling thief friend), and a couple of Bless potions. Still not quite sure how...

I just finished taking out this guy. I am at the very most a level 3 Paladin but I think only a level 2 (I'd have to go back into my game to check for sure). He was very tough for me. I used the fighter henchman but he was killed pretty quick. I was killed quite a few times myself. I think what finally did the trick for me was running out of the building a couple times to heal and 'regroup'. It seemed like drinking the healing potions while in the fight didn't work so good.
Good luck .... hope you have him killed by now |

Are you a fighter-type? If you're a wizard/sorcerer type you should probably wait a little. If you're a fighter, or if you have the barbarian henchman you might make it now. I was probably level 7 when I beat him with my elven wizard/ranger/rogue (4/2/1) and I still lost my cleric henchman and used several healing potions. By then it wasn't really a hard fight compared to others within the chapter though.
