I want to get a web-based email account, & was wondering what would be a good one to get. Off hand I can think of Yahoo & Hotmail, but are there any others out there?

Heaps of them...
It depends what you want and what you're prepared to put up with.

E.g: Mail.com will let you choose from a variety of domain names - I have one from them which is delboy@musician.org but it also has annoying popups when you log in and even worse - every time you delete an email!
Other ones I know of are Netscape, 37.com, Lycos, etc

In fact, have a look here - there are hundereds - some good, some bad. You can always try a few before giving out your address and see which one you like. Just cancel or forget about the other ones - they get deleted eventually.

www.zipmail.com I used to use until a while ago as well, very good, no popups, plenty of names still available.
