Not really, that just saves me time, effort, memory, and MONEY!!! his stuff improves automatically, that is AWESOME!!! i plan on getting the half-orc as my henchman when i play with my sorceror. though what the hell will i do about traps and/or locked chests? Tomi is great, its just too bad he uses the weapon i wanted to use, heh. oh well, dual-wielding kama's +1 works for me at the moment. see, there i go, rambling again, geez.

If anything I think you should have to pay hencmen more, or at least pay them every once in awhile. They're the cheapest things in the game after all at a one time cost of 100-250. It doesn't really bother me much that you can't give them items, its just less to mess with actually and once you get several bags of holding it doesn't matter. My Thief char has 4 of the 80% bags and one 100% bag...carrying stuff is no issue for her.

they made the henchman like that cause they based this game on multiplayer anyways. the henchman is an added bonus to help you out a bit. and they give you side quests.

Well, one of the things you see during loading says that the difficulty level of the game was calibrated to a PC and a henchman... that might be why they're so cheap, I think. *shrug* Also that they want you to get them early on in the game... *shrug*

Morgan_Corbesant all you have to do is chose the Pixie as your familiar. The Pixie has been able to open anything I can't as a mage...which is quite alot actually. Or you can have the barbarian bash it open. I have done that also, till I remembered my familiar
