I can vouch for the fact that 11pm closing makes you drink faster. I once did an evening class for a year that finished at 9pm - we'd all get down the pub by 9.20pm, and legless by 10.30. If there's no hurry, you're more likely to savour your pint than sit with your eye on the clock.

No chance!!!! (he says very sarcastically) Neither has the fact that they have decided to 'donate' money to a fund for every new born baby. Basically so most of them can use it to pay university tuition fees - something they introduced themselves (Grrrrr.... don't get me started there). Good to see the system works. HA HA HA |

At the State Opening of Parliament (yesterdsy) the speech lists the laws that the Government intend to introduce in this session. Guess what - the change to the drinking laws weren't there! It has been quietly dropped.
There you go - I might be a cynic but in this case I was right. It was just a gimmick for the election. Referendum on the euro - well perhaps if you vote us in again in 5 years. Bill to outlaw fox hunting - yes we know we promised you this but we've let it drop now that we've been elected - sorry suckers! Referendum on Proportional Representation - have you seen the size of our majority? We don't need it. We know this was promised but we're on a roll now!
