Sorry to pry, you don't have to answer and I won't take offence, but what went on (or is going on) with this Hassan The Leader, "new guy" and Theives of The Rising Sun. It's got me stumped and I'd like an explanation.

Don't mean to seem rude if it came out that way.

Thanks!

That is now yesterday's news, and they are now yesterday's boys. Just a troll that needed to be killed, nothing major. The bozo took the trouble to create three sign-ons, with three different email addresses, but obviously didn't realize that we log all user IPs here. It was a simple matter to check the IPs and find out they were all exactly the same.

Go on now, nothing to see here!

I don't mean to drag on but I looked back at some of their posts and their usernames have changed. I know they are now unregistered, but why have their usernames changed. And if you've done it, can I ask why?

Thanks!

It was the same fool who signed up 3 times just to spam. That isn't allowed here and we (the members) don't want it. We are here to ask and answer questions politely. We didn't join this forum and expected to be insulted and that's the buttom line.

The whole thing remains me of my stint as a DM in a popular online multiplayer game. We'd get some guy who would play quietly for a few days, building up levels, and then suddenly, very carefully, he'd go on a rampage attacking newbies. Asked why, the answer was almost always, "Hello? Oh my god, my little brother got into my account again. I'm soooo sorry." The joke is that this same answer was given everytime. We'd just nod, tell them that they were banned from the game, and suggest they deal with "little brother."

I think it was funny how the guy was caught, at times you mods seem to wield so much power over us lesser people.

P.S I as regards to this hassan fellow I have heard there following terms used to describe him: Troll, Baiter and flamer, anyone care to shed some light on what is exactly meant by these?

Somebody who joins the conversation/game only to wreck it, usually through abuse, chaos and/or misinformation. They even try on occasion to act like they're on staff, which can be pretty funny if you catch 'em at it and you're on staff.

We do our best to try and make sure we never have to use them, but sometimes there's no choice, unfortunately. And don't see yourself as a lesser person - I'm here to serve YOU guys and make sure your posting environment is safe.

flamer - On the Internet, flaming is giving someone a verbal lashing in public. Often this is on a Usenet newsgroup but it could be on a Web forum or perhaps even as e-mail with copies to a distribution list. Unless in response to some rather obvious flamebait, flaming is poor netiquette (and not allowed at Ironworks).

flamebait - On the Internet, flamebait is a "posting" or note on a Web site discussion forum, an online bulletin board, a Usenet newsgroup, or other public forum that is intended to elicit the extremely strong responses characteristic of flaming and active public discussions. To be effective, flamebait should be a bit subtle (but not too subtle) so that potential flamers will "take the bait." This term is similar to troll, which is an effort to get a reaction from readers but not necessarily for the purpose of eliciting flames.
Sometimes flamebait is used just to get a discussion started.

troll - An individual who chronically trolls in sense 1; regularly posts specious arguments, flames or personal attacks to a newsgroup, discussion list, or in email for no other purpose than to annoy someone or disrupt a discussion. Trolls are recognizable by the fact that they have no real interest in learning about the topic at hand - they simply want to utter flame bait. Like the ugly creatures they are named after, they exhibit no redeeming characteristics, and as such, they are recognized as a lower form of life on the net, as in, "Oh, ignore him, he's just a troll."
