I scratch my often (but not always) slightly stubbly chin in a certain way. It's very Alex-like, I do it automatically and it's become a real habit of mine.

I start smoking a lot, one cigarette after another, sometimes two at the same time. A nasty habit. Luckily i'm not nervous that much.

Normally, I don't do anything, I could be absolutely petrified, but I just pretend nothing's wrong, and do what I otherwise would. But if it's deep, like a sickening gash that slices the mind and consciousness like a broadpoint arrow, I find myself clinging to sanity by mere threads, wondering where life came and went, and if reality still meant anything. I don't sleep well at times like that, and it takes some time for me to be normal again, in the midpoint of the distance I find myself nervous like a ferret, working through the day, cutting thought out of the process as much as possible, and then passing it by, wondering what terrified me so deeply I was driven to drone life for weeks on end.

Ummm... one of your quotes is wrong.
Its: Macbeth:If it were done, when 'tis done, then 'twere well it were done quickly. If the assassination could trammel up the consequence, and catch, with his surcease, success, that but this blow might be the be-all and the end-all here, but here, upon this bank and shoal of time, We'ld jump the life to come. But in these cases we still have judgement here, that we but teach bloody instructions, which, being taught, return to plauge the inventor. This even'handed justice commends the ingredience of our poisoned chalice to our own lips. He's here in double trust: First, as I am his kinsman and his subject, strong both against the deed; then, as his host, who should against his murderer shut the door, not bear the knife myself. And it continues...

Who's quote? I wasn't quoting anyone, those were genuine Max Payne style poetics. Oh, wait, scrolled through the threads, like a brick from a subway wall, it hit me that I'm uncultured swine. Oh well, I still read what I want to, and I know the most American of all skills
1. How to cheat the IRS, so I keep my money. 2. How to make myself seem smart, so I keep my job. 3. How to find porn on the internet, so I keep my humanity. 4. How to do number 3, but never doing it, because all humanity is lost.
