Hi everybody, I just finished reinstalling the wonderfull O/S Windoze ME. For some reasons, I keep having a "program.exe" window (similar to a WinExplorer window) that opens when the O/S boots up. I managed to get rid of it last time I reinstalled that piece of junk (thanks to you guys) but I can't find the solution since the "search" option is still down . I was hoping you'd be able to help me out yet again

Also, anybody can translate a VMM01 error in English? For some reason, that's what I keep getting when I transfer MiniDV movies from the camera to the computer (using either MS movie Maker or ULead Video Studio v. 4.0 Basic SE) any idea on how it can fix this.

Thanks a bunch.

Run ScanDisk, do a virus scan.
If those dont work do a system restore, and format ur hard drive before reinstalling windows.
Failing that, ask someone who knows what their talking about!

I just reinstalled my Windoze on a clean formated HD. I also just fixed the "program.exe" problem... however, now I'm dealing with Kernel32 errors.

So, 2 questions:

1- What is a VMM 01 error and how do I fix it?
2- How do I fix Kernel32 errors?

Personnally, I also prefer Win98SE. Me is by far more unstable (though it's not suppose to be). Doesn't matter what I do, I always get Kernel32 errors and now VMM 01. Even after formating the drive and reinstalling the O/S without anything... I still get those errors... it sucks!

I was considering going to XP but I need the DOS capability (even though limited) of ME!

I can't answer the question, but www.google.com is a great resource for finding out what error codes mean. You just type in the error code itself to find lots of info on what that particular error means, if it's a known problem, and if there are any fixes.

Give it a try, it's worked for me before.

GL!

It's the way that windows 9x handles memory management that is the problem here. A VMM error is a Virtual Memory Management error. I don't know why you are getting it, but I guarantee if you were on Win 2K or XP it would go away. Incidentally 2K and XP owners are 9 times out of 10 more happy with themselves, have better jobs, have a lower suicide rate, have more caring families, have cuter pets.... I could go on but I'm sure you get the picture.

Try checking this website. It lists a bunch of errors and you can choose between your operating system, so it kinda narrows it down.

computing.net

I tried to send you to the link for ME, but I don't know if I did or not. I run ME and have very few problems.

OIf u must have 2k or XP, get XP- its alot better for games. 2k causes all osrts of errors AND looks horrible.
Im sticking with ME myself- i personally, dont get any errors.
