what is the best thing a thief/fighter/mage or anything else.

Hmm... odd as it seems, I regard the Robe of Vecna as an exceptionally useful - almost essential - item for any budding Mage. The ability to boost your spellcasting speed is very important. With spellcasters, as with gunfighters, the quickest to the draw tends to win!
Example: One of my favourite offensive gambits was a Spell Sequencer loaded up with three Magic Missiles. Nalia used these often to assassinate rival spellcasters. With the Robe, the speed of casting was so great the spell often hit before the spellcasters could get their defences up! Tancred Staff of the Magi? What's that? |

A sequencer and a magic missile is speed level 1 so it wont make a difference if you wear the robe of vecna or not for those but it is nice to cast greater malison and fireball that fast. The staff of the magi.......ill let the lord of the screenshot or memnoch put the whole item description up.....they usually do.

That's right, the robe of Vecna is one hell of an item. If you have it, you can see that the magic missiles are gone before she can do anything. It's like a speed factor of 0. Also, it's nice to shoot some flame arrows instantly.
For me, the best thing are the boots of speed. Very useful for someone who has a missile weapon equiped. If the enemy is too close, you can run and shoot and the enemy won't even be near you. |
