1) You get to play as a drow right?

2) Are there kit's like in BG II for some classes

yes/no/no

To expand on the latter two, IWD2 uses the 3rd ed AD&D ruleset. Whether thats a good or a bad thing depends on your personal taste. I dont like the new combat system, but spells and character generation are much better.

The way it works, when a character levels up, you get to choose a level of any class, subject to a few restrictions. Its much more flexible than the 2nd ed system, in the variety of characters you can create and in the choices you can make as you go. In BG2, once you choose a kit, unless you dual your stuck with it.

And in IWD2 you have the feats and skills as well. Its probably possible to duplicate most of the BG2 kits. Despite being much more complicated, it seems much more balanced than BG2, although I havent as much experience with it so I could simply not have found the exploits yet.

Just so know, the game is totally open regarding class, race, and alignment. So you could have a Lawful Good Drow Paladin if you wanted one. There are still a few restrictions (paladins have to be lawful good), but in the main, it's anything goes now in 3rd ed.

No, but if you are playing a cleric or paladin you get to chose the God you follow. This ads different abilities and attributes which is similar to Kits.
