Because somebody would've already offered you a place to stay...
Good luck with the housing problem. My nephew recently moved across country, and he found a place by advertising on Craigslist. He had a few leads looking for other people's "roommate wanted" ads, but got more responses when he put up his own "looking for a place" ad. Just a thought....

The housing thing so far -
The girl they have decided to move in with (I think) won't talk to me about it. Two of the guys won't talk to me about it. And the one who will has mainly been kept out of the loop, so he doesn't know what is going on. I've started asking other people is they have or know anyone who has a space next year, but to be honest, I'm not holding out much hope right now. I mainly just feel rather hurt that they decided to leave me out on my ass with no warning when I have to have housing sorted out soon, ideally.

Update on housing -
The people who screwed me over are still staying silent. However, it turns out that they have also messed around with another of my friends, who is in the same boat as me. He and I have decided to band together, got another friend who is unhappy with his current living arrangements on our side, and have decided we should move into a house together when we get a fourth person.

Re: Cloudy's Cafe, a conversation zone, January 8, 2009
wow, cafe dropped to page 2? that's just weird.
Anywho, temp dropped to around 39F tonight. Coldest for my area for as long as I can remember. I imagine it's much colder by my brother up in Sanford. The amusing part being that I'm towards the end of Book 2 of The Dragon Bone Chair, lending something of a boost to certain portions of the story. Too bad it's not mid-summer, it'd be like the story just leapt off the pages. Any updates on the housing situation DS?

39. Bah.
We get 39 up here, too. We just have to add a few days together to get there...

Hmm, but remember, this is south Florida where I am. The natives here complain about the cold when it gets below 65F. The funny thing is that they also complain again when in the summer the temperature is over 80F. I blame it on a sedentiary lifestyle that leaves them out of the elements far more than is healthy.

Re: Cloudy's Cafe, a conversation zone, January 8, 2009
Housing update - I haven't done anything about it for a week, I've been staying in a nearby city to take some time off, see some people, that sort of thing. I also haven't had internet, which is why I've been away for a little while.
One of the guys (Mike) has a couple of spare places in the house he is living in now for next year, and I am all for going there - it isn't too far to walk from the uni. I'm still up for looking around, but there seems good. Mike also says it is too early to be looking for houses, and thinks we should wait until June or July (!!!). However, Chris looked around the house, and the words he used to describe it were "a slum" - rather harsh I think, I have seen Mike's house and it is pretty good for student housing. My sister has and is currently living in worse. He is looking at more expensive housing a longer distance away - we are talking voer 40 minutes walk. And as far as I am aware, only Mike and I can drive, and he hates to and I can't afford the insurance, or the car itself, until I'm 21. And I don't really want to havw to get up any earlier than I already am. Like I say, I don't know if this has changed, because I'm not in Portsmouth right now. In other news, I can't get my earrings out (the backs are on too tightly), I am going slightly deaf occasionally (probably related to my recent bout of being ill) and I pulled a muscle in my neck and shoulder pretty badly crawling out from under a bed a few days ago. it was agony and I couldn't move my left arm or my head at all.

Damn, DS! You're falling apart!
Hope the housing situation clears up soon. Just remember... that which doesn't break you makes you stronger.
