Last night I was playing Windspear Hills quest. I made my way into Firkaggs Dungeon and was in the north west section where the Adamite Golem resides. The first Time I played through this guy really took a toll on my party so I was a little leery of attacking him out right. However I came up with a plan. Sorry if this insults anyones Intellect.
I Opened the secret door and ran back to the entrance of the first Cavern. Adamite was stopped at the door. He was too big to go through. I then Equiped my fighter with Azures Edge axe and just kept throwing it at him. It took awhile but sure enough 25000 exps later he was gone. My party suffered no damage from Adamite and minimal damage from the other Golems in the cavern. I know this is cheesy but some times Cheesy Poofs are good.

Trapping beasts too large to get through the door (with or without others stuck helplessly behind) is a time-honoured tactic. I don't think it's cheesy - it's just good tactics. Kudos on figuring it out. You just have to stay far enough back to avoid the gas cloud. You were right not to take the golem head on, since you can only do 2 pts of damage at a time (a problem which the golem definitely doesn't have).

I don't find that cheesy it's more like tactics. It's a tactic I commonly use in p&p D&D where it can be really handy to have some extra time, or to totally block the monster.

I use the same tactic only I use Tansherons short bow. It's effective...

But it makes sense in a way, if an adventurer was attacked by this golem he wouldn't say "Oh my this stupid golem can't fit through the wall so I could attack it with ranged weapons without it hurting me.. But no some would think this is cheesy... I'll go up and fight it in melee combat...".

Some may say if it was real and not a comp game the golem would back off once it relised it couldn't reach the adventurer and it was being hurt by the ranged weapon. But golems aren't know for there intelligence...

It's good tactics

It is an old cheese to me. But if you have Tactics Mod installed then Golems throw rocks in case if you go through the door wich are too small for Golem to follow you.

To me whether or not it's cheese depends on the beast you dealing with. I can see a dumb golem getting stuck in the door and not thinking to regroup - this is even consistent with the original story of the Golem of Prague (the prototype of all golems). Mind flayers - not so much.

Ah, but that just leaves them open to Ye Olde Shield of Reflection cheese. With the Shield and either Azuredge, Riftholme, or the Sling of Everard, you can whittle them down twice as fast as before.

As for whether it's cheesy or not--against Golems, NOTHING is cheesy. Setting Traps right at their feet and then turning them Hostile is not cheesy. I'll respect the intelligence off all enemies except the mind-numbingly stupid. (Whether or not Brain Golems are able to think is a topic worthy of debate.)

I didn't.. But then again I never even managed to get passed ugly-looking Ilyich and his goons in Irenicus' dungeon anyway (the fact that I only tried it solo might have something to do with that )

Nevertheless, I should play the Tactics mod again.. when I'm up to it.. someday.. far away. First I need to either find a better graphics card to buy or I will just need to hijack my friend's computer for a while.

A Golem would get stuck like this. They only follow direct orders and the only way a Golum would stop his assult from the door would be if the mage who created him or the person who's orders he was instructed to follow was in the background. Now would it not be cool if the developers had actually made the side walls to the door crumble as the Golem hurled is body at the door to get to you. That is something a Golem would do. Best way to kill Golem is to make them follow you to a pit, or cliff were they will likely walk over after you even though you are hanging on the side, not sure how this would work for the infinity engine however.
