Has anyone tried this game? If so, how is it? As a fan of Diablo I and II and the Baldur's Gate Series for the PC, what should I expect?

Thanks in advance,

Lord Ed

I have played and completed Dark Alliance on the PS2, but i think they are practically the same, so...
It is very much a hack 'n' slash game. if you enjoy walking around, killing everything, then buy it. There is a limitation to the characters you can have and to the items (no longbows or crossbows for instance, and you HAVE to wield a bastard sword with two hands).
You can have an female, elven sorceress, a male, human arcane archer or a male, dwarven fighter. It is quite cool, but not really personal roleplaying, as you cannot name or create your character. In general, the storyline is good and I found it fun to play. However, there is not much to do after you complete it, besides re-doing with a harder difficulty, so for some it can get boring quickly. But the graphics are excellent, especially the water.

Bear in mind this is all only my opinion.
Hoped it helped!

I was wondering this as well!

Also, PS2 or X-Box? I have both, so which would be better!

I've just waited for it to go really cheap before I bought it! Isn't worth forty quid I doubt!

What was the storyline like? Who was the bad guy? I suspect it has nothing to do with Sarevok or Irenicus.

I played this game last summer. It is definitely a Hack-n-Slash game. Not near the thought you have to put in to say BG or BG2. I thought it got a little boring near the end. Seemed to be an endless maze of kill this monster and then break up this box or pick up that bottle. I kind of understood why they decided to not make a sequel. On a scale of 1-10 I'd say it was a 5.

The bad guy is some woman who refused to die because she wanted to take revenge on Balder's Gate for betraying her in a battle against the goblinoids because they didn't send reinforcements because they advised her not to follow and wipe out the remaining goblinoids, but she did, so she attacked the city itself, got chased into the marshes (the last level) and got "killed" but rose again 'cos she was so pissed off....

*takes deep breath*
Wow! All in one sentence! There's a little more to that, but that is basically it.

They're not making a sequel? Damn, I really wanted one! Talk about a complete cliffhanger! How do you know, Sir Taliesin?

Maybe it should have it's own forum?

There's an idea for you Ziroc. A Dark Alliance forum!

Do you know if the others in the series are going to come out on Xbox? I have part one for the PS2. There are supposed to be three parts, and it was a good game. My dad chose the human archer instead of the dwarf fighter, just because he would rather be human in a video game. I was the dwarf fighter because he was meant to be a melee fighter. We haven't done the two-player mode, although you can use it to cheat and duplicate your items by loading your character as the second player too, then have them drop anything of value, then reload them as player two until you have enough money to buy anything. I only did this after I beat the game on easy. After you beat the game, there is a 30-minute challenge that you can start as a new game. You are Drizzt, and must kill all the monsters in the dungeon and get out in 30 min. I won with eleven seconds to spare. If you beat the challenge, you get expert mode. You import your character that has won the game, and it is like starting over. All your special equipment dissapears. If you can beat expert, you can use Drizzt as a character in the other modes.
