For anyone that has a Direct-X 9 compliant video card, check this out:

http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/rthdribl/index.html

Download the demo (around 16 MB) and tell me how it looks. Judging from the screenshots, this is simply *awesome* groundbreaking real time rendering . It uses Vertex Shader 2.0 and Pixel Shader 2.0, and is the only demo to use these AFAIK (not even Futuremark's 3DMark 2003 uses these).

I don't stand a chance of running it on my crappy old Geforce 2, but if anyone's lucky enough to own a Geforce FX or Radeon 9500/9700/9800, then run this demo and tell me how close your jaw gets to the floor!!

Untill I can find a game that can slow down my GF3 P3 1.0GHz system I won't bother upgrading to the FX or new Radeon cards...I also have a GF4 card in a P4 2.25GHz machine and both machines run everything I have and then some. I just loaded Freelancer on both systems....Maxed out all details and it is smoothe as silk on both....and the graphics are awesome.

which is better? Radeon 8500 LE 128mb or a Redeon 9700? I've spend $1200 for Radeon 8500 one year ago and got berserk with the computer shop people when I saw Radeon 9700 was sold for $450.

I asked why is this but they say Radeon 8500 is expensive because it is better than Radeon 9700. is this true?

The 9700 is ATIs current flagship card. Competitor to the GeforceFX. Top of the range. Well, it was a couple weeks ago anyway. The 8500 is about a year old. What the current price for the 8500? Chances are when you bought it, it was the top of the range card and cost the max, whereas the 9700 is about to be/just has been succeded by the 9800.
