Part of Trademeet, yes. The Dao Djinni quest can pose some trouble for a newbie solo-player. Trust me in that one.

That's one of those fights where you have to think "hmmm...genies equal magical abilities...let me quaff those potions/read those scrolls etc.". It is a tough one, but not really any tougher than beholder battles (non-cheese methods, of course). Tough, but doable.

I agree with Dundee about going to Umar Hills first for that certain sword. Mirror Image works wonders in many tough fights, as does getting the sword that allows you to cast silence.

In fact, Mirror Image would work wonders against the genie. However, a simpler way to avoid this is to work for the genies. You miss out on the bottle, but considering that I usually get fireballed every time I summon an efreeti, I don't consider it a huge loss.

Have you tried looking just outside the Copper Coronet? I find sometimes when there's a fight near him he tends to wander outside...
I always meet him at the entrance of the coronet, like, in the actual CC, not outside it

I don't think they were talking about the Djinnis, Nerull. There are... tougher opponents than the Djinnis in the quest.

The Djinni summoned from the bottle is different from the one summoned from the spell. The bottled one is tame.
Oh, got you. That one is just a pain unless you know to summon stuff. Soloists have a bear of a time with that one (except maybe solo sorcerers). Another one of those "potion" battles.

And the efreet from the bottle has never been tame in any of my games. I never cast the one from the spell; I've only ever summoned the one from the bottle. He doesn't directly attack the party; he fireballs the opponent, but has the great timing to catch one or more of my party members in the blast. That's why I only use that bottle if I know I am sending it in alone. It's even more of a pain with other summons; they go hostile, and then I'm fighting the opponent and my summons.

? Fireball?

All the Djinn ever does is cast Ghost Armor and melee the enemy for me. I have to forcibly make him cast his other spells.

ADD] I consider the Bottled Djinn to be one of the best summons for a soloist in the game. It is... relatively easy to get( more so if you can pickpocket), and the Djinn has decent melee skills. Better melee skills than the Berserker from the Silver Horn of Valhalla in fact. He is fast, has a magical blade and can cast spells.

Anyone want to spoil me on where exactly to find the "Bottled Djinn"? I've played through so many times but I never knew of it's existence! If you get it from the Dao Djinn in Trademeet maybe it's because I usually do the quest they offer. Is the bottle part of the loot if you just kill the Trademeet Djinnis, or have I missed it somewhere else?

Your assumption is correct.
