Now I own a GeForce 4 mx.

Anyway, i am curious about something... now the program always prompts you to uninstall your old drivers right? and somebody said that it's okay if you don't uninstall them...

Now i was wondering, if you install OVER the old drivers would it have the same effect as uninstalling it? and the other is, if i install a new driver, is it safe to delete the old drivers that are in the NVIDIA folder?

You can install over the old ones. They get replaced in the reinstall. No harm has ever been done to mine. I think I might have asked the exact same question a few months ago, and was told the very same thing. BTW...there are new drivers avaiable as of a week or two ago! I have yet to go get them, but am told that they are noticably better!

I was actually unaware that there is a folder that contains the old ones as well as the new ones! Where is this folder, and I will delete mine to see what happens.

Yes I also have not found this folder if there is one I did find the general area the drivers are kept but I've never heard of anybody removing old ones and there only seem to be the latest versions in the file I found and I didn't want to remove anything that deep in the program without somebody with more know how saying this is OK.

Yes those are your installer files. The driver is in windows folder now. you can delete those. Most people keep them to have something to change around.

Most people do install over old drivers but you are supposed to uninstall first.

oh thanks

but then would it really make any difference if you uninstall first and then just simply overwriting them?
