I was wondering, is getting TOTSC necessary to get the full BG/BG2 storyline or could you skip it and still get the whole story? My original plan was to get BG2 after I beat BG1 but then I remember that TOTSC was the expansion for BG1 and considered that I might not get the whole thing. So I guess my question is..... Should I get TOTSC or BG2 first?

TotSC is not necessary for the story line of BG2. It just provides you higher lvls and better equipment for preparing for BG2. It's actually a nice little expansion that don't take too long to do. I don't think it costs much more then $10.00 and I found it to be quite entertaining.

I would recomend you to buy it, even if it, as Glavias says, doesn't add something to the story. With it, you get to start with up to 161k exp, and you do three quite entertaining side-questes.

Does anyone know where I can buy it? For some reason I always have a hell of a time trying to find CRPG's. And what is the XP cap without with the expansion? Is it 150,000 the highest experience that the manual shows for going up to level 8 (mages but I'm sure you knew that )?

Jafin,

The exp cap is 161,000 for Tales of the Sword Coast. If you can't find it at your local Best Buy or other local stores, you can try ordering it at www.ebgames.com

I bought Baldurs Gate2: sword of amn and throne of bhaal through ebgames.com. I received both a day or two after ordering them.

You have to get TotSC. I'm serious. It's too much fun to miss out on. I just took my party out of the city of Baldur's Gate for a little vacation at Durlag's Tower and am having blast!

Dreamer128, you haven't played W&W?! It's different from BG but well worth the money! I played through it 1 and a half times but then I got BG and stopped! I got mine at the local Best Buy but that was in March. Try going to Electronics Boutique or another specialty computer game store. I'm heading over to Best Buy in a few days, maybe tomorrow, to get TOTSC. Or I might decide to be stupid and just skip it and go to BG2, I've heard that's better anyway.
