WHat ONE BATTLE, in all the BG series (not one of each, the one for all) do you consider the toughest one.
I have beaten the game a few times and honestly, the final battle in ToB is easier than some others, so it's not that. I found the final battle with Sarevok in BG1 the toughest, with all those traps and no good thief in the party cause Imoen was dualled into a mage. I managed to beat it though after numerous attempts.

I've only played BG2, but the final battle is a BEAST! Seriously! I hated it! 10 tries later, still hacking away

I'd say a fight in Baldur's gate,do you remember the fight in the Iron Throne building on the top floor that took me a good few reloads. In BG2 I'd say the fight on one of the seals in the fifth level of watchers keep.

Final battle with sarevok in bg1, definatly. The only battle i ever had to get help on, and i ended up using cheesy monsters and arrows. None of that in BG2.

Hmmmm...Ascension on a high difficulty level
Otherwise, that one battle for the seal in Watchers keep (the one with the marilith and friends)...or Sarevok in BG1. Although, with the unlimited monsters, that one wasn't too bad if you had the wand of monster summoning (40 summoned monsters later....) |

I have yet to beat the BG1 and have only played a small portion of BG1, so I'd have to say that so far the battle against the warders in the Durlag's Tower was the hardest battle I've come across. The Demonknight at the bottom of the tower couldn't even compair. Then again I'm playing at the exp cap from ToTSC Have some awsome stats considering my only REAL cheat was a slightly higher than human constituion of 19.

Firewine Bridge. Alone. As a level two/two cleric/mage. I was definately out of my league. I still have no idea how I managed it, but the wands and scrolls I used up probably weren't worth the treasure I got there. Come on, it was HARD! Tell me those accursed Kobold Commandos didn't give you hell with their little Flame Arrows.. Even with your entire party, those halls were so narrow you could only get about two party members through at a time.

My first bloody encounter with Firkrag... wow, even if I didn't have to reload it was so damn hard, Jaheira casting healing magic like crazy, Minsc and Keldorn hacking away on the front trying to get a decent hit, my main character, standing behind the dragon doing the same thing and Aerie trying to lower his magic resistance with about every spell she had... it was a long and hard battle but the good guys won in the end... and Keldorn got a awesome sword... almost worth it

the Nabassu at the bottom of Durlags tower, I always beat Sarevoc without the rest of his group coming to help, so I was definitely saving myself some serious pain in that department, but that damn Nabassu (it was listed as a demon, but it was the last creature... IIRC it held a dagger that the cult in Ulgoths beard wanted), it always got 2 or 3 of my party members that I had nurtured up to inhuman hp's and excellent skills, and having to fight a former partymember/ghast, was not a fun thing with a demon breathing down your neck
