If you had to join the military, what branch of service would you choose (Army, Navy, Air-Force, Marines, Coast Guard)? And why? And what would you hope to be (pilot, special forces, etc)?
None. I'm a British Citizen; therefore, I wouldn't join any US military branch. If I was *made* to join a British one, I'd have to think very carefully about it. For starters, it goes against my believes to join the army (and I dont want to get into a debate about how its ok for others to join and protect the country, but not me etc etc etc.) Also, Asthma can be a real pain/drawback, and would limit my effectiveness on the battlefield.

I was in the army, but I would prefer navy or marines. In finland, that is not so much possible, but in theory..

Light Bulb

I was a Navy wife for 9 years. And the one thing I seriously considered was the SeaBees. They are a construction battalion that basically build bridges and such and blow them up when the need is gone. Sounded like a fun thing at the time. Now I am too old. Maybe next life!

The Royal Air Force. Why? Cos its the best Air Force in the world.

The Army is for people who arent clever enough for the Air Force. I had the grades for any position in the army, but only just made the grades for RAF pilot.

But I'm joining the merchant navy though. Start in september!

Mojo mate, just after I decided I wasnt going to be a Pilot in the RAF, I decided to be an engineer. The RAF looked like a great option.........and it is. Until I discovered the Merchant Navy. Totally different from the Navy, but offeres amazing pay, amazing training, and gives you knowledge of far more stuff than the RAF, not only engines, but air conditioning, water purification, electrics, everything.

I know as I weighed it up for ages. You also travel, and they reckon you will go to well over 100 countries..........you don't with the RAF. Oh, and you only work 7 months a year.

I'm signed up with Maersk, look into it. You won't regret it!
