That is a thought... could the song thread go in the user poll forum? Would that count as a legit poll type thing?

Interesting thought.

Heck, I loved that song thread... it made me think and attempt creative links - although there were times the brain cells were on sabbatical - and it let me reminice about the old days when I heard these songs. It was a good thing for me, anyway... got my mind off my troubles.

By the way, if you are still reading this, you obviously are looking in the wrong place for something entertaining, for I am dull and insipid and have very little to say of redeeming value... LOL

I think if we could ever get a chat room function here at Ironworks, it would cut down a LOT on spam posting. Things like the Song post, etc...they seem more suited towards an online chat rather than a forum post.

It seems that the chat room was in the works at one time: did it get trashed when Ironworks went down? Just curious. I still think it would be a possible solution to the prob.

I think it was just a beta test, Saz. It was kind of crappy, or so we all thought.
If putting up a chat room would not mean too much work for Dan. I suppose it would be very very convenient and would certainly cut down the amount of spam.
Especially if there are options like P(rivate)M(essages), and having separate chatrooms. But I'm not sure if it can be done...i.e. if Ziroc can find the time and energy.

So, my decision is simple. I'll let Ziroc and his merry band of mod-gods determine what should be deleted, and what is acceptable. I'll post, and if one needs to email me, or post to me to edit or delete, I shall. BUT, I'll still be the Dawg, and I'll keep posting. I like it here. I don't plan to leave t'till they drag me away, kickin and screamin.
Feel free to flame.

RudeDawg - I haven't read everything you have posted (it'd take me forever!), but I have never seen anything posted by you that anyone could possibly object to! An' if they drag you away kickin' and screamin', I'll be doing a bit of screamin' myself - about injustice, lol!

Sazerac: i think Ziroc hasnt found the appropiate software still. He did a beta testing with a free software he got, but well, guess why it was free . When he gets new software, heŽll let us know so that we try it.

Maybe private messaging can help taking off the "hey you got my mail"-type posts, though e-mail works fine too. Definitely as Sazerac said, a chat room would be very good, the definitive Spam-vacuum

BTW Saz, long time no see, how are you ?? I hope all is going fine for you (er... yeah... nah, im not spamming... my outlook just broke )

PS: hmm... melusine youre fast arent you ??

LOL Hi, Javi! I'm doing great (yes, I guess this is postus interruptus!) Actually, though, I appreciate the information about the chat room. Yep, those freebie things really suck.

"Smylin' Dragon", Wyvern's husband, is writing a UBB chat room in PERL for our own private club. (off Ironworks). Maybe (assuming it gets up and running) he can be persuaded to share the code. I'll see what I can do. (For those of you who may not know, Wyvern's our wonderful "Lady" of the Wizards & Warriors forum.

If I remember right, Jabidas, Ziroc DID lock that thread off and dub it "SPAM."

Apologies, Jabidas. I misread your post...I thought you were saying that he DIDN'T take it down. I think my eyes are getting tired.
